Robert J. Conaway “Bob” of Tampa, FL died on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the age of 88. Loving husband of Kay Conaway for 25 years; beloved son of the late Robert and Kathleen Conaway of California, PA and brother of the late Joseph E. Conaway of Boca Raton, FL; devoted father of Robert (Sharon) Sean Conaway, Erin A. Smith and Peter F. Conaway; grandfather of Nicki L. Scherrer and Taylor C. Smith; former husband to Rena Conaway.

Bob was the consummate large systems marketer during the large systems era in IBM. During his time in St. Louis, MO, he was the Account Executive to IBM’s largest worldwide commercial customer, McDonnell-Douglas. He was a creative marketer both with his customer and within IBM. He frequently spent much time at Corporate Headquarters selling IBM executives on new marketing strategies for McDonnell Douglas and other large account customers. Even though he was a risk taker, innovator and creative marketer, his customer and his marketing team always came first. Bob was the perfect man, at the perfect time, in the perfect place. He will be sorely missed and was certainly one of a kind in IBM.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Blount & Curry Terrace Oaks Chapel on Saturday, May 20, from 2 to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at for him.
