Robert Leslie Worthing was affectionately known as Bob by his friends and Buck by his family. He was born to the union of Arden and Geraldine Worthing on February 17, 1934, in Petoskey, Michigan. He died on March 28, 2017, in Mesquite, Texas.
Bob accepted Christ as his Savior on September 14, 1958, at Open Door Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He was baptized by Brother Joe Boyd
He settled in Dallas, Texas, in 1948, with his parents and one of his sisters. Bob and Dolly Jean Gregg became Mr. and Mrs. Worthing 0n June 23, 1951. This next June they would have celebrated sixty six years of marriage. If there is a Bible verse that describes Bob as a husband it would be 1 Peter 3:7
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
Bob worked for a local bottling company for 47 years. He was a man of unerring and loving devotion to his wife and children, a man of hard work, with a gentle spirit and an innate decency. When the grandchildren and great grandchildren came along he took loving delight in them. He was the anchor and the lighthouse for his family. As the servant-leader of his family he consistently lived out what that meant rather than just talking about it.
Bob was proceeded in death by his father and mother, his oldest sister, Carol Brazil, and his grandson, Jason Robert Worthing. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Dolly: four children along with their families, Robert G. Worthing, Sharon Miller, James Worthing and Michael Worthing: and his sister, Jo Miller.
