Robert "Bob" Vigeant, 75, of Acushnet passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Sandra J. (Charros) Vigeant with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Mederic and Lorraine (Turgeon) Vigeant he was a lifelong area resident and a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Mr. Vigeant worked as a professional driver for Transportation Planning Services for 35 years until his retirement in 2007. Bob was very active in the community. He was the Past President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, chairperson for the Acushnet Friends of the Elderly and Catholic Charities Appeal. He was on the Board of the Damien Food Pantry and he was also a hospice volunteer and helped with Camp Angel Wings. Bob was named the Acushnet Man of the Year and was awarded the Marian Medal in 2009.

The Vigeant family would like to thank Msgr. Gerard O'Connor and the parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Parish for the love, compassion, and transportation help provided to Bob over the past few years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Robin J. Bachstein and her husband Michael of Mattapoisett and Rhonda Vigeant of Fall River; one grandchild, Mitchell R. Vigeant; one Godchild, Shawn Vigeant of Katy, TX; one sister, Lorraine Garcia of Plymouth; two brothers, Ronald M. Vigeant of London, KY and Roland R. Vigeant of Bartlett, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be Tuesday at 9 am from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet, MA 02743.
