~Roger D. Dahl~
81, of Thornton, CO passed away December 6, 2017. Born April 2, 1936 in Volga, SD, he was the son of Jens and Clara Dahl. Survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Wendy (Wayne) Dafoe and son Craig (Heather Bean) and by grandchildren Ashley, Jacob and Emma, and son-in-law Howard Chambers. Also survived by siblings Marilyn Ellison and Jim Dahl and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by daughter Lori (Chambers) and sister Ruth Ann Lorius.

Roger grew up on the family farm in Volga, SD and attended Huron College where he earned bachelor's degrees in Science and Math. He began his career as a math teacher which foreshadowed a lifelong love of teaching. He married Beverly in 1959 and their three children were born in South Dakota. In 1968 he moved his family to Denver and began a 20+ year career working as a civilian at the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center. There he was part of the technology leadership team that developed some of the earliest large mainframe systems.

Roger had an enduring commitment to family and to his ever-growing circle of friends. He especially treasured his grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face and whom he especially loved. Roger loved to golf and spent many hours on the links of Riverdale Golf Course improving his game and building lifelong friendships. He was a man who sought to bring others together by creating a welcome community of support. He volunteered in a local elementary school tutoring math. He was an active member at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and in many other clubs and organizations throughout his life. As a committed Norwegian he loved his lefsa and lutefisk over the holidays.

He leaves behind a legacy that inspires us to further our commitment to family and community.
Services will be held Monday, 12/18 at 10AM at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Broomfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Step Denver, 2029 Larimer St, Denver 80205 or at stepdenter.org/donate or to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church 12099 Lowell Blvd, Broomfield, CO 80020
