Mr. Roger Dale "Jeep" Watkins of Gadsden died June 19th, 2017 at his home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Thursday June 22nd at Collier Butler Funeral Home at 11:00 am, followed by graveside services at Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday June 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The Reverend Bill Smith will officiate.
Jeep owned and operated Watkins Metals before retiring in 2000. He was married to the love of his life, Rebecca "Becky", for 58 years. Jeep was an avid Auburn fan, golfer and notorious joker who was loved and will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a devout Christian and attended Harvestfield Church.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Geraldine, Ormand, Margie, Hester, Buddy, Charlie and Faye. He is survived by his wife Rebecca; children Randy, Lance and Misty; grandchildren Davis, Corbin, Patrick, Madison and Lexi; sister-in-law Ann Watkins and brothers-in-law Bill Thompson, Travis Martin, Gary (Carline) Patrick; numerous nieces and nephews and his special friend Biscuit. Special thanks to Chris and Vickie of Physician's Choice Dialysis, Kindred Health and Hospice, Dr. Oguntuyo, Dr. Castillo and Dr. Kwan.
Pallbearers include: Tim Hudak, Mackey Moates, Kyle Chambers, Marlon Martin, Tommy Wiggonton and Dale Robertson. Honorary Pallbearers are long-time friends Jim Stivender, Richard Short, Bill Livingston, Robert Aycock, Ronald Hays and Era Sheffield.
The family will receive flowers or donations may be made in Jeep's memory to the National Kidney Foundation
