Roland Lucien Gregoire, Sr.

Roland Lucien Gregoire, Sr. passed away on April 18, 2017. Roland, affectionately called “Greg” was born June 4, 1928, Thetford Mines, Quebec. He was founder and president of Greg’s Restaurant Equipment and Supplies, Inc. in Burlington, VT, a family business enterprise, semi-retiring upon the sale in 1983.

He was an active community participant as member of the Ethan Allen Club, Burlington Country Club and Elks Club and Founder of the Old North End Burlington Business Association. He was Manager/Coach of Little League Barre, VT when in 1959 he led the team undefeated to become New England Champs.

Greg was an avid golfer into his 80’s and won many Championships. He loved to fish at his camp in Grand Isle, VT. Greg won 1st prize in the First Annual Vermont Fishing Derby for largest, small mouth bass. He often played cribbage and cards. Greg loved Vermont having lived in Barre, Williston and Grand Isle; and then Naples, Poinciana and Lutz, FL.

He will be greatly and forever missed by his devoted loving wife and partner, Ann Sweeney Gregoire of Lutz, FL, his loving children; Roland Gregoire, Jr and his wife Janice, Woodbury, VT, Kent J. Gregoire and his spouse Steven Cornwell, Atlanta, GA and Corinth, VT, and Kim Marie Gregoire, Lutz, FL. Step-children; Deborah Powers, Gardiner, ME and Micheal Powers and his wife Deborah, Cape Elizabeth, ME.

Greg had 7 grandchildren; Roland Gregoire III, Jason Gregoire and his wife Tanya, Michael Heyman and her husband Mickey, and Joshua, Jeremy and Johanna Powers, and Jennifer Niles and her husband David. Survived by many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his sister Rita Rozek and her husband Richard, Portsmouth, NH and sisters-in-law Madeline Gregoire, Barbara Sweeney and Janice Hess. Greg is predeceased by his parents, Hermenegilde and Marie Rose Lehoux Gregoire, brother Leonel Gregoire, and son Donald Gregoire.

A private family memorial service will be held later where his ashes will be placed at the East Williston Cemetery in Williston, VT. In memory of Roland L. Gregoire, Sr., contributions may be made to “Vermont American Cancer Society”, Hope Lodge at 237 East Avenue, Burlington, VT 05401.
