Rommie Edwin "Ed" Gray, 82, died Saturday, September 16, 2017. Ed and his wife of 62 years, Shirley, resided in Kennesaw, GA since 1968. Ed, born November 17, 1935 in Dade County GA was the son of the late Grace and Allon Gray. He was the oldest of 5 children.
Mr. Gray retired from Equifax in 1996 after a 30+ year career as a Printing Machine Machinist. He was well known for his carpentry skills, print machine work and general ability to fix or build anything. Friends and family fondly remember how much he enjoyed a game of cards, the Atlanta Braves, weekends camping, a round of golf or tinkering with his restored 1968 VW Bug. But mostly, he is remembered for his love of family.
Ed is survived by his wife, Shirley, his daughters Susan (Lee) Goynes of New Braunfels, TX, and Carol Gray of Atlanta, GA. Ed leaves grandsons Scott Goynes of Austin, TX and Sean (Kaylee) Goynes of Buda, TX. He is also survived by his brothers Cliff (Peggy) Gray of Seattle, WA and Jerry Gray of Destin, FL and his sister Gladys (Dwight) Biddle of Trenton, GA. as well as 11 nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
In 2005 Mr. Gray was diagnosed with Parkinson's. He worked hard to delay the progression of the disease by working in his shop and staying active. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family and his devoted wife. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations to be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation to help support others facing the uncertainty of the disease.
Funeral services will be held 1:00PM on Wednesday, September 20th at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA. Family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, Kennesaw, GA.
