Ronald William Lavis, 71, of Crozet, passed away on March 23, 2017. Born on December 29, 1945, in Somers Point, N.J., he was a son of the late Ralph and Olive Patchel Lavis.



Ron is survived by his wife, Eileen Gough Lavis; daughters, Amy Lavis Terrell and her husband, Jeff, and Kim Lavis Sandridge and Rodney; son, Daniel Jon Lavis and his wife, Cheryl; adored grandchildren, Adam Terrell and his wife, Shonda, Jasmine Terrell and her fiancee’, Michael, Jacob and Luke Sandridge, Ronald A. Lavis, Jamie Lavis Sims and her husband, Clay, and Vivian Lavis; and great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Natalie, and Keira Sims, and Michael Brickhouse Jr. He will also be sorely missed by his brother, Bruce Lavis and his wife, Susan and their children Scott and Amanda.



Ron served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968. He was the founder and owner of his own electronics broker company while in New Jersey. After moving to Albemarle County Ron began work as a restoration specialist for the UVA Foundation and retired in 2014.



He was an excellent craftsman and teacher. He was also known for his delicious pies. His family will miss his infectious sense of humor and wit. His many talents were endless and he will remain in our hearts forever.



A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the Teague Chapel. A gathering of family and friends for a time of remembrance will follow.



The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at the funeral home.
