Normal - Ronald W. Blemler, 74, of Normal, passed away July 4, 2017 at 1:44 a.m. in Bloomington.
Visitation will take place from 4:30-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Normal. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the church. A luncheon will follow the service.
Ron was born January 26, 1943, in Olympia, WA, the son of John and Doris Blemler. He married Sandra K. Mayall on October 4, 1963, in Colorado. He served in the Army for three years. He graduated from Western Illinois University. They moved to Normal in 1969 and he went to work for the Town of Normal. Ron served as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Normal for 33 years where he retired on October 4, 2002. He served in the Army for three years.
Ron was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan, loved to golf, and spend time with family and friends. He was a volunteer at the Midwest Food Bank and Faith in Action. He was also a big supporter of I.S.U. Athletics.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents John and Doris Blemler. Ron is survived by his spouse, Sandra and three children; Rhonda (Steve) Simonson, Bloomington, Kim Reeb, Round Rock, TX, and Rob (Chrissy) Blemler, Bloomington; a sister, Joyce (Dan) Palmer, Ipava, IL; a brother, Mike (Linda) Blemler, Ipava, IL. Ron was the proud grandfather of five grandkids; Quentin Reeb, Jake Simonson, Jackson Blemler, Kylie Simonson, and Lauryn Blemler. Ron spent many hours watching his grandkids participate in various activities.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Midwest Food Bank or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
