Rosa Payne Henry went home to be with Jesus on Saturday August 5, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.
She was born June 11, 1928 in Lancaster, S.C., to the late Connie Woodson Payne and Nettie Mae Scott Payne. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Luther Payne, J.C. Payne, Odell Payne, and Donnie Payne; and one sister, Louise Payne Lambert. She was also proceeded in death by her loving husband J.W. Henry and her son Joseph Wayne Henry.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, James Michael Henry and wife Judy of Valdese; her daughter Judy Church and husband Jimmy of Icard; also surviving are five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
She loved her home where she cooked, gardened, and served her family and neighbors. She was a gospel song writer with a very long number of her songs published by Tennessee Music, Spirit Sound, Stamps Baxter, and Heritage Publishing Companies. Some of her more popular songs are, "He Shall Wipe the Tears From My Eyes", "Stormy Water", "I Can Make It", "He Gives Me More", "Time of The Ages", "A House Made of Clay", and "Won't It Be So Good". She received Jesus as her Lord and Savior in 1952 and was baptized in 1953 by Rev. Rubel Spencer.
The family will receive friends Tuesday August 8, 2017 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at New Covenant Church of God where she was a member.
The funeral service will follow at 7:00PM on Tuesday at New Covenant Church of God with the Bishop Dennis Pitts, Bishop Russell A Morris, and Pastor Jimmy Church.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
