Rose Irwin, 90, of Quintana TX, passed away on December 6 2016 in her daughter's home surrounded by her family.
Rose was born to Leon Girardo and Rosina Bonvenza on October 8 1926 in Brooklyn NY.
Rose married Woodford "Woody" Irwin and together they celebrated more than fifty years of marriage before he passed in 1997.
Rose loved to cook. She could often be found in the kitchen whipping up the next meal for her family, and they loved her dearly for it. Even after Woody passed away and she moved to Carriage Inn (where she lived for more than 10 years) she would cook for her friends and neighbors. She was happiest in her life when she was cooking for others, sharing her God given talent with those she entertained in her home. She was an avid collector of recipes, placing them into her special recipe scrapbook which her family will always treasure. Rose was extremely active, being quite the avid sportswoman playing volleyball, and she was an incredible bowler; she enjoyed watching all sports - especially girl's college volleyball. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She doted on her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and even her great-great-grandchildren. She loved the holidays, loved to decorate her home and she cooked for months, freezing food in anticipation of the next family feast. She was a beautiful and kind woman who was dearly loved and she will be forever missed.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Leon & Rosina Girardo, and her 6 siblings.
Rose is survived by her 3 daughters, Maureen (Florin) Vrazel, Brenda (Louie) Smith, and Georgia (Tommy) Rice. She is further survived by 11 grandchildren, Melissa Vrazel, Velecia (Mark) Chaney, Sonny (Amy) Vrazel, Lee (Beverly) Vrazel, Chris (Sharon) Vrazel, Susie (Jeff) Patterson, Jeffery (Lindsey) Smith, Dennis (Amy) Smith, Cyndi Rice, Brad Rice, Brandon (Julie) Rice; as well as 28 great-grandchildren, Christina (Daniel) Springston, Andrew Ramirez, Marcus Ramirez, Zachary Craven, Candace Vrazel, Amanda (Brad) Margoliner, Bailey (fiancé Taylor Hammack) Vrazel, Taylor Vrazel, Trey Vrazel, Morgan Vrazel, Meredith Shoemake, Ryan Vrazel, Alex Vrazel, Hagan Vrazel, Branson Vrazel, Francessca Vrazel, Blake Patterson, Ashleigh (Chad) Turczyn, Kaden Smith, Kendal Smith, Addy Rose Smith, Avery Smith, Brooklyn Rice, Brennan Rice, Jaden Rice, Gavin Rice, Braelyn Rice, Allie Lindsey; as well as 5 great-great grandchildren, Everett Springston, Major Johnson, Sawyer Foyt, Bryson Iven, and Stetson Turczyn. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Verdine Irwin, and Louise Girardo, many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends - residents and staff - at Carriage Inn. The family also wishes to offer special thanks to the staff at IPH Hospice; your care of our mother will always be cherished.
