Roswitha Ann Kress Carper, age 44, died at Maryview Medical Center, on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, from complications due to cancer. Rosy, as she was known by everyone, was born May 2, 1969, in Brunswick, Georgia. She grew up in Chesapeake and settled in Portsmouth, where she was a wife and mother. She graduated from Western Branch High School. In her youth, she was an avid softball player and came to love bowling while in a league with her mother. Rosy also loved camping on the Albemarle with her husband and children. Rosy will be remembered for her love of animals. Her mother, Ruth G. Unruh, her father, Anthony Kress, and her stepfather, Harold Unruh, predeceased her. Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Randall 'Randy' Carper, and her two beautiful children, Katelyn and Zachary Carper. Other survivors include her sisters Jean Rush, Lilian Zollars, and Erika Williams; her brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends. A service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Loving Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of a life cut short by this disease.
