Rowena May Brock, 71, entered into her Lord's eternal rest on January 10, 2018 following a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. Rowena was born on May 28, 1946 in Hollis, OK to Roy Denzil and Louise Marie (Staton) Cary. Rowena loved people and more importantly, loved making people happy. Always doing for others. It was hard to keep up with Rowena. Over land, air, or sea, she loved traveling with family and friends but vacationing in Red River, New Mexico was her favorite. Family was very important to Rowena. You would be hard pressed to find more special relationships than the ones she shared with her sisters Barbara and Amy and their loving families they each fostered and who all remain close today. Hosting weekly dinners with her kids and grandkids (who lovingly called her Mom-mom), attending endless grandkid activities like band and choir concerts and swim meets and countless Mom-mom nights and play days were just some of the ways her family knew that no matter what, she would always be there. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to see movies and many times, they would see a particular movie more than once. Although always taking great care to eat right and exercise, Rowena loved food. Her kids and grandkids brag about enjoying her famous smothered steak for their favorite dinner, or her ultimate pancakes with "eggs like you like 'em" .but she insisted you had to wash your hands first. Rowena earned an Associate's degree from Oklahoma State University and worked as a logistics specialist at Tinker Air Force Base for 38 years. In 1969, she wed Bob Brock and they were married for forty-six years. She faithfully attended the Sooner East Church of Christ where she had attended since moving to the Oklahoma City metro area after college. She couldn't wait to retire to devote more time for church work, in which she endeavored faithfully. Sending uplifting greeting cards was a frequent labor of love. Rowena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby Don Brock; and brother, Fred Cary. Survivors include her children, Tami Blomgren and husband Scott of Midwest City, OK, Michael Brock and wife Rebecca of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Daniel Blomgren, Amanda Blomgren, Abigail Brock, and Jackson Brock; sisters, Barbara Lewis and husband Larry of Choctaw, OK, Amy Goble and husband Lyndon of Chandler, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other friends and family members who will miss her dearly. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Choctaw with interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Choctaw, OK.
