Roy D. Lawson, 87 year-old resident of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away on November 7, 2017 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Born February 14, 1930 in Lexington, Oklahoma, he was the son of Calvin Lawson and Alma Pernia (Petrey) Lawson. Roy was a longtime employee for the Highway Department of the State of Oklahoma, where he was the Assistant Director of the Office of Engineers. He loved music and playing his guitar; dancing; and gardening even winning several awards from the City of Lexington for the "Best Lawn and Garden". Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Alma Lawson; his wife Bethel Jean (Unsell) Lawson; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and 2 nieces. Survivors include 2 sons, Dempsey Lawson of Midwest City, OK; Timothy and his wife Sandra Lawson of Midwest City, OK; 1 daughter, Lucinda DuPuis of Oklahoma City, OK; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Blackwell; Ethan Mink; Mariah Rockwell; and Izabeau Morris; 4 great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; 1 nephew, Charles Lane and 1 niece, Evelyn Beavers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73141. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, Oklahoma. Please think of Roy when you drive on the Talihina scenic drive, Kickapoo Spur, and parts of I35 as those were a few of his engineering contributions as a 32 year Oklahoma State Highway Engineer. Even though Roy was not Irish but Native American he loved Ireland so the traditional Irish Blessing is below:
