Roy Oliver McCord, 60, of Gadsden, passed away on April 21, 2017. He is the son of the late Roy Davis McCord and Ethel McCreless McCord.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol Ross McCord and his children, who he always referred to as his "best legacy"--Catherine McCord Bailey (Forrest), Roy Davis McCord II (Ann), and Mary Margaret McCord (Trey) as well as his grandchild, Charlotte Ann Bailey, whom he loved so dearly. He is also survived by his brother John (Susan) and many nieces and nephews.
Roy was born and raised in Gadsden. He graduated from Emma Sansom high school in 1975 and then attended the University of Alabama. At the University, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha and graduated magna cum laude. He attended the University of Alabama School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate in 1982. After law school, he and Carol moved to Gadsden where he began practicing law with his father.
Roy truly lived life to the fullest. He was passionate about his law practice and served Etowah County as one of its attorneys for over 30 years. He had many friends from all aspects of his life and was a loyal, generous friend to them all. He loved fishing, grilling, working in his garden, and Alabama football.
