Ruth Virginia Alexander, 86, of Goose Creek, SC, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 26, 2017 surrounded by loving family.

Ruth was born August 18, 1931 in Vienna, West Virginia to Henry Reed and Daisy Bell (Baker) Carpenter. Ruth met her loving husband of 50 years, Billy Alexander, in South Carolina where they wed October 6, 1967. She and Billy raised three wonderful sons together; Steve, Curtis, and Jeff. She was a retired homemaker and avid TOPS member, just like her sister. Ruth will be remembered for her love of all animals. She loved feeding the birds and squirrels that would visit her backyard. She enjoyed watching many football games with Billy, cheering on the Panthers together. She was a lover of country music, especially when serenaded by her son, Steve, on his guitar. Her grandchildren hold fond memories of many weekend sleepovers and their special New Year’s Eve celebrations including the traditional cooking of Hoppin’ John and sipping on sparkling grape juice. She simply adored all of her great grandchildren and looked forward to their many visits.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Billy Alexander, and their sons Steve Barnes (Sue) of Burnsville, NC, Jeff Barnes (Connie) of Eutawville, SC. Her siblings; Raymond Carpenter (Naida) and Boots Offenberger (Don), Her grandchildren; Charis Stone Racer (Harley), Cassie Barnes, Brandon Barnes (Margaret), and Brittany Garrett (John). Her great grandchildren; Baylie Barnes, Caleb Garrett, Ian Garrett, River Racer, Ruby Racer, Starling Ruth Racer, Penelope Barnes, and Reed Garrett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Daisy, a son, Curtis Barnes, her brothers, Rex, Harl, and John, and her sisters, Frances Moss and Velva Reisdorf. As well as loving dog, P-NUT.

The family would like to extend their many thanks to the staff of Elms Life Center for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Ruth in her time of need.

A visitation will be held at 10a to 11 am on Monday, October 30th at Carolina Memorial Park with graveside service to follow at 11 am.
