Ruth Frieda (Schafrick) Bostwick was born March 21, 1928 in Rosental, Alberta, Canada. The area was mostly made up of German, Russian & Polish immigrants. Her parents were both German. Her father, Frederick, had been born in Germany and immigrated to the area. Her mother Bertha (Quast), although German, had been born in Canada. Only German was spoke in the household where the family lived on a farm with 8 children (all born with a midwife at home): Will, Emma, Lidia, Olga, Adolph, Ella, and Heide. There were 2 other children, Helen and Leo, who died early in life. Ruth attended Rolly View Grade School, and then Northwest Bible College where she was Valedictorian of her class.

In her early 20's, Ruth and sister Ella decided to follow sister Emma to the United States to live in the Tacoma, Washington area. Ruth became a naturalized U.S. citizen in December 1956. Soon, due to allergies and a desire for sunnier days, her sister Ella decided to move to Arizona in about 1957 and Ruth followed. In Arizona, Ruth secured a job as a secretary at General Electric in the engineering department.

It was in 1966, Ruth was set up on a blind date by a fellow co-worker and met Allan Bostwick who worked in the computer division at G.E. He had recently been widowed and left with 2 young children, Barbara, age 11 and Jim, age 5. Ruth not only fell in love with Allan but his 2 motherless children. They were married on 12/31/1966 and soon had a son of their own, Steven. Ruth then left G.E. and decided to become a realtor with Clements Realty with a desire to be home for the 3 children a little more.

Ruth and Allan were avid golfer. And after quite a few years in real estate, Ruth decided to approach her old friend from the G.E. engineering department, Karsten Solheim, for a job as he had since developed the Ping putter and a successful golf manufacturing business. He offered her a job in his "Export" department and this is where she happily stayed until fully retiring. During her golfing career, Ruth obtained 2 Hole-In-Ones, played in Pro-Am tournaments, and won multiple ladies golf tournaments at Anthem Country Club. Ruth also enjoyed painting.

Allan pre-deceased Ruth in August 2017. Ruth happily and peacefully joined him in heaven on January 18, 2018. Ruth is survived by her step-daughter Barbara (Gary) Davis, her step-son Jim (Daphne) Bostwick, her son Steven (Cyndie) Bostwick and grandchildren, Melissa Simons, William (Hannah) Bostwick, Andrew (Kristen) Bostwick, and Elizabeth (Alex) Schultz.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 28 at 4:00 pm with visitation starting at 3:00 pm at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona.
