Ruth Ann Hall Hinsdale passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the age of 65. Ruth was an inspiration of bravery and faith to her family and all who knew her before and during her battle with ALS. As her disease progressed, the minister of her church in Charlotte asked her to write devotional messages for the employees of the Church twice a month which she did for 2 years until she moved to Atlanta to be closer to family. Her devotionals grew “wings and legs” as family members and friends shared her devotions with many across the United States.

Ruth had a spirit of fun and vitality about her which her entire family and friends loved. As the youngest of 3 girls, she was often referred to as the “most fun”. While she had many “careers” her goal was always to be the best mother possible for her 2 daughters, Melissa Hinsdale Graham and Jaime Hinsdale Foster and a wonderful grandmother for her 5 grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews remember her as the best babysitter ever. She will always be remembered for her warm heart, her love for gardening, enjoyment of life and her wonderful smile whether she felt well or was in pain.

She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, James G. Hinsdale, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, Melissa and her husband Joseph H. Graham and their 3 children Elle, Joe and Wren of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jaime and her husband Harry R. Foster III and their 2 children Robert and Carden of Atlanta, Georgia. She also leaves 2 sisters and their families in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

Services will be held in Atlanta at 3:00 P.M. Friday April 21, 2017 at Northside United Methodist Church, 2799 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. In Charlotte the service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.
