Ruth L. Henry of Boonville died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, surrounded by her family at her home after a long illness. She was 82.
Ruth was born on Dec. 10, 1933, in Cooper County, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Orphie Martin Walters. She was raised on a farm and graduated from Prairie Home High School in 1952.
She worked in Boonville at Foster’s Drug and Thoma’s Standard Drug before becoming co-owner of the Shady Lodge Motel. She then worked at A&W in the kitchen before retiring in 1996.
She was active in her church, well-known for her crocheting and quilt making and loved to travel. She and her husband visited 37 states and made a tour around Missouri, visiting all 114 county seats in the state.
She married high school sweetheart Paul Henry on Jan. 2, 1953, in Harrison, Ark. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Jim and wife Mary Ann of Pittsburg, Kan., Scot and wife Sylvia of Springfield, Mo.; two grandchildren, Clifford Henry of Mount Vernon, Mo., and Kaylee Henry of Springfield; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Beverly Potter.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Boonville with the Rev. Jeff Glandon officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
