Ruth Mildred George Lasco, of Surprise, AZ, gently fell into the arms of her Savior at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Sun City West, AZ. She was 96 years old, and was surrounded by children and grandchildren singing her favorite hymns.
Ruth was born in Philadelphia on June 24, 1921, the second of the late Edgar and Eva George's three daughters. She married John Lasco Jr. on September 30, 1939. John passed away July 12, 2012, at 95 years.
Ruth's life was as busy as a life could be. She and John had six children, all born while John was serving 28 years in the U.S. Navy, much of that time at sea. She was wildly-adaptable, making new homes for her growing family in many cities and states.
Ruth was as devoted to God's work as she was to her family, and quickly found a church home wherever the family was living. At her passing, she was a long-time member of Grace Community Church in Surprise.
She was also active, for much of her life, in Christian Women's Club, both in Arizona, and in Quincy, IL, where she and John lived from 1973 to 2001.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and loved by all. Her heart was large enough to love all that she met . Generous in spirit and substance, she never had an enemy.
She is survived by five of her six children: Thomas Alan, of Altusried, Germany; Andrew James, of Surprise; Ruth Johann, of Penrose, CO; Susan, of San Diego, and Mary Jane, of Phoenix. She also counted nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a great-grandchild scheduled to arrive in April, as her beloved family. Her son, John Richard, and his wife, Barbara, preceded her in death in 1978.
SERVICES: Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Grace Community Church in Surprise. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Cooper McWherter conducting. Interment will be in Sunland Memorial Park in Surprise.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, please donate, in Ruth's name, to the American Heart Association.
