Greensboro, NC: Sallie Webb Huss was born June 10, 1939 and died March 27, 2017.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro and the family will gather with friends in the Virginia Gilmer Room following the service.

She graduated from Oxford High School, Oxford, NC and attended Duke University and Greensboro College. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro.

Sallie had a very active life. She enjoyed tennis in her younger days. She and Hoke traveled all over the world on church mission trips and were leaders of many church tours. They traveled throughout Europe, Russia, Africa, South America, the Caribbean, Canada, and all 50 states.

She was a Cub Scout Leader, Elder of First Presbyterian Church, Sunday School teacher, President of The Women of the Church, Circle Leader, member of the church book club and a volunteer for Hot Dish and Hope, Habitat, and the Greensboro Urban Ministries.

Also, she was president of the Greensboro Branch of the English Speaking Union, President of the Belle Meade Society of the Greensboro Historical Museum, a member of the Greensboro Historical Museum, the North Carolina Museum of History, a member of the Greensboro Lecture League and a longtime supporter of The Community Theater of Greensboro and The Triad Stage.

Sallie was preceded in death by her father, John G. Webb; her mother, Ruth Erwin Webb; and beloved Aunt Sallie (Sa-Sa) Webb. During her mother's final years, suffering from Alzheimer's, Sallie was the ever loving caregiver.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Hoke Huss; son, Thomas Hoke Huss, Jr. and wife Barbara; granddaughter, Elizabeth of Raleigh, NC; son, Robert Erwin Huss, and wife Beth; granddaughter, Braden; grandson John of Southlake, TX; brother, John Graham Webb and wife Frances of Lynchburg, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church (The Hoke and Sallie Huss Outreach Fund), 617 N. Elm St, Greensboro, NC 27401; or to a charity of one's choice.
