SAMUEL RICHARD "SAM" UPTON, 84 MONROE, LOUISIANA Cox Funeral Home Lake Providence, Louisiana LAKE PROVIDENCE, LA - Funeral services for Samuel Richard "Sam" Upton, age 84 of Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Reverend Joey Kennedy will officiate. Interment will follow in the Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Lake Providence. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until time of service on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home 210 North Hood Street, Lake Providence, Louisiana. Mr. Upton passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at his residence on Finks Hideaway Road in Monroe, Louisiana. Sam was a retired pipeline inspector after many years on the pipeline. He was a veteran having served in the US Army. He was a member of the Sulphur Lodge # 424 F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Verna Upton and a step daughter, Pamela Morgan. He is survived by his wife, Leona Ainsworth Upton of Monroe, Louisiana. Pallbearers are: Eddie Fee, Brian Anderson, Gary Hill, Kevin Gwin, Kenneth Schlottman, and Jamie Herrington. Honorary Pallbearers are: Bert Pearson, Dick Clack, and Ted Sturdivant.
