Santos C. Nieto Sr., passed on December 16, 2017 at 90 years of age. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Margarita F. Nieto, his mother, Antonia Chavarria, his two brothers, Juan Nieto Sr. and Jim Nieto Sr., two grandsons, Buddy Suarez and Santos C. Nieto lll,. He is survived by his children, Laura N. Bilducia, Anna Suarez, Mary Helen Cano and Santos C. Nieto Jr., and his grandchildren, Rudolfo Bilducia Jr., Fransisco Bilducia, Jessica Bilducia, Tomas Suarez, Angie Suarez, Julie Suarez, Juan A. Suarez Jr.,Ricardo R. Gonzales Jr., Antonia Gonzales, Leticia Gonzales, Santos Y. Nieto, and Angel Y. Nieto, and his great grandchildren, Ricardo M. Gonzales, Gabriel Gonzales, Isaac Gonzales, Manuel Hernandez, Xavier Gonzales, Janessa Gonzales, Jordan Gonzales, Cheyanne Vierra, Margarita Gonzales, and great-great grandson, Ricardo Jeremiah Gonzales.
He was born in Pearsall, Texas on November 1, 1927. He grew up in Cotulla, Texas with his mother and brothers. He enlisted in the military as a young man. He was a military policeman for the Army during World War ll while stationed in Germany. After the war he came home to Phoenix, Arizona and married Margarita Frasquillo and had 4 children. He was a construction superintendent for over 40 years. He became a successful businessman in the town of Guadalupe, Arizona. With this success he was able to provide for his family and became a prominent figure in the town. He was also a volunteer fireman for the town. He was the eldest living veteran of Post 124 in Guadalupe, Arizona.
He enjoyed being with family, friends and spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite pastimes were spent fishing, gardening and listening to music. He also enjoyed sharing stories while throwing back a cold one.
He touched many lives with his big heart, compassion and generosity.
He is very well loved and will always remain in our hearts and thoughts.
Mr. Nieto's life will be celebrated at a visitation Friday, December 22, 2017 from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. and Funeral services beginning at 11:00am both in the chapel at Resthaven Park Mortuary and Cemetery, 4310 East Southern Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85042 (602) 437-0436.
