Sharon Tracy "Trena" Brantley, 51, passed away peacefully in her Raleigh home surrounded by her family on November 16, 2017 after a courageous battle with clear cell ovarian cancer. Sharon was born on June 24, 1966 in Raleigh to Mabel and Ray Brantley. She graduated from Southern Nash High School in 1984, Barton College in 1991 with a B.A. degree in English Language and Literature, and North Carolina State University in 1994 with a M.A. degree in English Language and Literature. Be assured, if there are any grammatical errors in this writing, the haunting will ensue.

Trena, as Sharon is known to many, is survived by her husband, Steven Nagar; her mother, Mabel Short and her husband Newton Short; and her beloved perpetual puppy, 16-year-old, HRH Prince Buster "Bu" Chen Tzu; her step-brother, Richard Denton; and many close relatives. She was preceded in death by her loving father, Ray.

Trena was a Senior Media Operations Specialist for Curriculum Pathways at SAS. She was known for her kindness and consideration toward others, her diligence in all things, her listening and negotiation skills, her wonderful sense of humor, her stunning wit, and her grace. She was such a righteous lady. Trena's greatest joys were reflected in the way she lived her life: studying and working hard, sharing her passion for music, movies, and books, spoiling her dogs, treasuring vacations at the beach, enjoying Steven's cooking, and cherishing quality time with her dear mother and family. For her tough and multipronged attack on her cancer, Trena was affectionately known as the Cancer Ninja to many of her friends, physicians, and nurses. This warrior will be severely missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC 27511. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance or to the SPCA of Wake County. 2017 Steven Nagar
