Sherrie Denise Coffey Ford passed away in Birmingham, Alabama, at Brookwood Medical Center on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 9:00 p.m. Born on April 9, 1956, Sherrie died at the young age of sixty years, following the death of her father, Cecil Dewitt Coffey, who passed away 35 years ago. Sherrie is survived by her mother and step father, Peggy & James Copeland of Gadsden; her sister and brother-in-law Deb & Roger Whitaker of Madison; her brother Rod Coffey of Fort Payne; her two sons, two daughter-in-laws, and five grandchildren: Scott & Dixie Ford and Allie, Amber, Thomas, & Anna of Hoover, and Jeff & Natalie Ford and Jorjanne of Cleveland, Georgia; her two nephews & their families: Matt & Lauren Whitaker and Caroline of Jacksonville, and Stuart & Lillie Whitaker and Dylan & Ava of Huntsville; and one niece & her family: Lori & Jake Moran & Baylie of Slidell, Louisiana. Sherrie is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins across North Alabama and beyond. Sherrie was born and raised in Hokes Bluff, before living in Gadsden, Boaz, and Birmingham. In Boaz Sherrie lived at the Manor House, and in Birmingham she lived at Mount Royal Towers. Her family is extremely grateful for her family, friends, neighbors, and caregivers who cared for her, especially those associated with the Manor House and Mount Royal Towers.
Visitation will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901, on Sunday, March 12 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and a memorial service will be held at the same location on Monday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. Sherrie will be laid to rest next to her father at Crestwood Cemetery in East Gadsden.
