Shirley April Pine, 93, of Fort Wayne passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016. She was born on April 26, 1923 in Perth, Australia to the late Vivian J. and Annie V. (Quinn) Walton. She met the love of her life, Dale G. Pine, while he was in the Navy stationed in Free Mantle, Australia, and sailed to America in 1947 to marry him. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church for over 60 years and a member of the Eastern Star Home Economics Club for over 55 years. She felt her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother and teaching her family the value of a dollar and that a good work ethic will take you far. She was also a member of the British Club. She enjoyed spending her time volunteering, sewing, knitting, reading, and poetry. She will be remembered as a person that never knew a stranger and would welcome anyone in to her home. Surviving family include her children, April (Robert) Spencer of Roanoke, Sharon Pine of Montpelier, VT, Michael (Julie) Pine of Columbia City, Patrick (Rebecca) Pine of Markle, Ann Thomas of Fort Wayne, Theresa (Christopher) Cunningham of Huntington, Dale Pine of Pine Ridge, SD, Shirley (Johnathan) Pine Schumacher of Essex Junction, VT, Melissa (Stuart) Lawson of Barre, VT, Paul (Michelle) Pine of Mooresville, NC; 26 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Dale in 1989; a granddaughter, Cassandra; sister, Valerie; and brother, Ronald. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 5:30-8:00 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Fort Wayne with a rosary service at 7:30 pm. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana. Memorials may be made to Turnstone Center For Children and Adults With Disabilities , 3320 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
