Stephen H. Pratt, 58 of Plainfield, beloved husband to Diane (Scaplen) Pratt passed away Saturday, October 15 surrounded in love by family and friends. He was born September 6, 1958 in New Haven, son of Sandra (Vosburgh) Leipold and Hayden Pratt.

He graduated from Xavier High School and earned a bachelor's degree in English from Assumption College in Massachusetts.

Steve was employed by Foxwoods Resort Casino as a Chef for almost twenty years and was known to many as Chef Steve. He had a self taught passion for cooking, grilling, and most anything in the kitchen. Steve was an avid golfer and relished taking on challenging courses with his close friends. He was a lifelong, diehard fan of the Patriots and also loved rooting for the Red Sox. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and was known to them as "Poppa".

In addition to his wife, he is survived and greatly loved by his mother and father, Sandra (James) Leipold of Atlantic Beach, FL; brothers Jeffrey Pratt of San Jose, CA and Butch (Barbara) Carlton of Scarsdale, NY; sisters Betsy (Michael) Lunny of Lebanon CT and Lisa Manfredi of Groton, CT; nieces Katrine and Carli Lunny and nephews Conor and Ian Lunny, all of Lebanon CT; Aunt Deborah Lippincott, cousins Seth and Ryan Lippincott all of Nassau, NH; stepchildren Jennifer (John) Erickson, Barry H. (Kristin) Scaplen, Jr, Michael (Kelly) Scaplen, Ronald Scaplen and 8 grandchildren, all of Plainfield, CT.

Steve will be remembered not only for his outstanding personality, but for his big smile that lit up the room; his joy was contagious. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 21 from 12:30-2:30 pm, followed by a memorial service at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook, CT.
