Steven Ray Schiesswohl, 63, of Boulder, died February 19, 2017 at Boulder Community Hospital. He was born January 25, 1954 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Alvin and Jean Schiesswohl. Steve graduated from Grand Junction High School, following which he earned an Associate of Science degree from Mesa College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University, and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. Steve met his soulmate Kim Kieselbach while attending Colorado State University, and they married in December of 1978 at First Christian Church in Grand Junction.

Steve had over 30 years of experience in Federal real property acquisitions, land management, and disposals. He worked as the Team Lead of the Asset Management Team for the Office of Legacy Management of the U.S. Department of Energy before retiring in 2011. Following his retirement, he started a consulting firm, Pheasant Tail Consulting, as the owner and Lead Consultant.

Steve was an avid skier, tennis player, golfer, fly fisherman, baseball hat collector, black-belt Marshal Artist, biker and hiker. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. Through the years, he coached his childrens' many and varied sports teams. Many discussions with Steve centered on his sons, Tim and Jacob, and their activities. Additionally, he was a frequent blood donor at Bonfils Blood Center, donating a total of eight gallons.

Steve walked the path less traveled in many aspects of his life. He loved adventure, traveling, meeting people and sharing stories, photography, poetry, reading, and most of all, time with his family.

Steve leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Kim Schiesswohl (née Kieselbach); son Timothy Schiesswohl and wife Christa; and son Jacob Schiesswohl. Also surviving are his identical twin brother, Scott Schiesswohl and fiancée Vicki; sister Debra Bailey and husband David; brother-in-law Kent Kieselbach and wife Delci; sister-in-law Karen Kieselbach; nieces Emily Bailey-Bialk, Stephanie Bailey, Kristen Schiesswohl-Noble, and Chelsey Lovely; and nephew Robert Kieselbach. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his daughter, Kellie Schiesswohl, and his niece, Leslie Schiesswohl.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11:00 am -12:00 pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 4215 Grinnell Ave. Boulder, Colorado 80305.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bonfils Blood Center. Checks should be sent to Community First Foundation, 5855 Wadsworth Bypass, Unit A, Arvada, CO 80003 and made payable to the Community First Foundation, with a memo designation to the Bonfils Blood Center Donor-Advised Fund and the words "in honor of Steven Schiesswohl".
