Sue Perkins Jones passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

Born in Dallas on Friday, October 17, 1930, Sue was a woman who was full of life even to the end when life was fleeting. And now she has received what she treasured most - life everlasting.

Sue grew up as the youngest daughter, and was the last surviving child of the late Dr. Jack Perkins and Winnie Perkins of Dallas, Texas. All of her life Sue was a smart, vibrant, energetic person. From birth she was involved in the medical community. Her father, Dr. Jack Perkins, was a Pediatrician in Dallas, who formed a charitable clinic for infants which became the Richmond Freeman Memorial Clinic, one of the charitable organizations that combined to form Children's Medical Center of Dallas.

In her ambitious style, she graduated high school at the age of 15 and enrolled at Southern Methodist University as it was close to home. As soon as she was old enough, wanting adventure outside of Dallas, she transferred to Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. There, while at a dance, and literally swinging from a chandelier, she fell in love with James C. Jones. The two had a great romance, got married and she supported him through medical school. After graduation, her husband set up a practice in Houston, Texas where he specialized in internal medicine in the Hermann Professional Building. They lived in Meyerland and later the Memorial Villages area of Houston.

Later in life Sue found joy in keeping her mind active and participated in the Delphian Society, an organization of women that was devoted to intellectual pursuits. She loved to research topics of all sorts - historical, scientific, psychological. She would find speakers, identify scholars for the Delphian scholarship, organize fund raisers and enjoy life with her friends. She loved the opera, fine art, the symphony and fine dining.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her husband as well as one child, Bob Jones. All of her siblings also preceded her in death: Bill Perkins, Jack Perkins, Winnefred Perkins and Bob Perkins. Her greatest pursuit in life and greatest love was as a mother to her children. She is survived by her children William (Bill) A. Jones, Dr. Andrew (Andy) P. Jones and wife Olga Jones, Sally J. Clark and husband Mark L. Clark, along with five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A celebration of this wonderful woman's life will be on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Francis Episcopal Church, 345 Piney Point Road, Houston, Texas, followed by interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
