A visitation will occur from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, at the Church. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

Suzy was born on December 30, 1969 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Jack and Pierrette Wolfe. She was a 1988 graduate of Mater Dei High School and earned a B.A. in English from The University of Iowa in 1999 and a B.A. with Honors in Elementary Education from Mount St. Clare College in December 2001. Suzy's career in education has included work as a classroom and Special Education teacher in the Chicago Public School system, as well as working in educational support roles at the YWCA at and most recently at Hillel Academy in Pittsburgh, PA.
Suzy's life was characterized by passionate commitment to family, friends, children and a wide variety of political and social causes. She was close to her parents and her seven brothers and sisters and was a loving aunt to her twelve nieces and nephews. In addition, for Suzy, the category of "friends and family" extended to a series of cats, often strays that she adopted and loved with the same fierce loyalty that she brought to every other corner of her life.

Suzy is survived by her parents, Jack and Pierrette Wolfe; four sisters, Mary Wolfe of Clinton, IA, Katie (John Mote) of Washington, D.C., Christy (Dan Carroll) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Jennifer Wolfe of Iowa City, IA, as well as two brothers Kevin (Deirdre Egan) Wolfe of Iowa City, IA and John (Rita Platt) of St. Croix Falls, WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Clinton YWCA Crisis Center or L'Arche of Clinton, IA.

She was an assistant professor with the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Psychiatry.

Sarah was a compassionate and brilliant doctor, colleague and scholar. She was able to offer her patients and their families a rare combination deep knowledge of practices and research in her field and a fundamental respect for their strength and suffering. In addition, despite the distance and long hours she worked, she maintained an extremely close relationship with her family back in Iowa, talking every day with her parents and other family members.
