Terrance "Art" Ortiz Lomax, 55, of Greensboro, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Trinity AME Zion Church on E. Florida St. in Greensboro. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel, 515 N. Elm St. in Greensboro.
Art was born in Greensboro on June 26, 1961 to the late Marjorie Lomax. He accomplished many things in his life. He received his B.A. in English from High Point University, then his B.A. in Arts and Science from UNCG. Art was a teacher, a tennis coach offering private lessons as well as coaching at N. C. State and A &T University and was the founder of the NC Tennis Association. He was also a volleyball coach and played on the USVBA volleyball team. Art was founder of the NCTA, volunteered at Urban Ministries, was a water aerobics instructor and was the author of two books, Mozel and Somewhere in Between and No Ordinary Lady. In addition to his mother, Art was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bannie Mary Lomax and his grandfather, Cyrus Lomax.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Bonnie Lomax; his niece, Katrina Gillespie; best friends, Jewel Escobar, Eugene Davis, and Barbara Oakley; aunts and other extended family.
