CHAPIN - Juanice McDaniels Holladay, 85, settled in Columbia, SC in the 1950’s when she met the love of her life, Vernon Holladay.

Juanice Holladay, age 85, of Chapin, SC passed away at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC on June 5, 2017.

Juanice was born on Oct. 3, 1931 in Nichols, SC to the late Vinson and Myrtle McDaniels. She married Vernon Holladay in 1950. After finally settling in Columbia, SC they raised their 3 children Kathy, Breck and Vinson.

Juanice was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become “Mema” to her three grandchildren and later “Gigi” to her six great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and made the best biscuits! She was also a talented seamtress.

Juanice was known for her quick wit and love for history. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Juanice was the beloved wife of Vernon Holladay of Chapin, SC . Devoted mother of Mary Kathyrn Holladay (Michael) of Lexington, SC, Vernon Breckenridge Holladay, Jr. of Lavonia, GA and Vinson Lee Holladay (Rayshell) of Chapin, SC. She was the loving “Mema” to April Selkinghaus (Cliff) , Dawn McAndrews, Holly Volz (Chris). She was also the caring “Gigi” to Katelyn Selkinghaus, Ty Ochoa, Kathryn McAndrews, Skylar Volz, Nicholas Volz, and Aubrey Volz.

Family and friends will gather at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

A family graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery followed by a celebration of life to include family and friends at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017.
