Mary "Theresa" Pitisci (Harris) passed away on January 12, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Theresa was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and raised in Baltimore, Md. She attended the all-girls Catholic School, The Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore, Md. (class of 1951). After graduation the family moved to Tampa, Fl. and that is when Theresa met the love of her life, James "Vincent" Pitisci, at a University of Tampa event. Theresa and Vince were married at Christ the King Catholic Church on October 2, 1954. After all children were in school, Theresa started working for Maas Brothers Department store and took early retirement as an Executive of Marketing. She then volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Fl. After one year of volunteering, she was hired as the Gift Shop Manager. She retired (again) on her 75th birthday. Theresa was one of many people that founded St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tampa, Fl. and served as a member of the Alter Rosary Society and St. Patrick's Women's Club. Theresa also served as a board member for Interbay Little League. One of Theresa's greatest accomplishments was in 1973. For her daughter Karen, Theresa developed the first girls' softball program for District 6 Little League in Tampa, Fl. She became the first District 6 Softball Administrator in Tampa, Fl. and developed her own girls' softball umpire group. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, James Vincent Pitisci, Sr. (deceased 9/24/17), parents - William P. Harris, Sr. and Mary Harris, brothers - William P. Harris, Jr. and Richard Harris. She is survived by her children, James V. Pitisci, Jr (Lynette), Mary Frances Pitisci-Radcliff (Leo), Karen Pitisci and Michael Pitisci, beloved grandson - James V. Pitisci, III (Tiffany) and precious great grandson - Vincent James Pitisci, sister - Patricia Perez (Ed) and sister in law - Benedicta Harris, along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family would like to thank the Miss V from Granny Nannies of Tampa for not only being Theresa's daytime care giver but also her friend - The staff from Seasons Hospice Care for the wonderful care given to Theresa during the final few days. A special thank you to Nancy and Rob (owners), along with wonderful staff at A Country Place Assisted Living, for the exceptional care given to Theresa during her short stay. Theresa was a loving and caring wife and mother. She instilled in her children the Catholic Faith, respect for others, responsibility and friendship. People will always remember Theresa as having a smile on her face and willing to help others in any way possible. A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday, February 9th at 10am on Friday, February 9th at Christ the King Catholic Church. The family will receive guests prior from 9am-10am and the inurnment will be private at Florida National Cemetery.
