Thomas Detore, 90, of the Holiday City Heights section of Berkeley Township, passed away on Monday November 27, 2017 at home while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Toms was a lifelong resident there until moving to Berkeley Township 22 years ago. Tom was a US Navy veteran having served in WW II. Tom was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church and was extremely active within the Holiday City Heights Clubhouse.
Thomas was predeceased by his first wife Angelica in 1975. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Janet Wood Detore; two daughters, Jeanne Wardour and her husband Joel and Diane McAlpin and her husband Mac; a step-son, William Russo and his wife Bettyanne; a sister, Dolores Barone and also survived by 10 grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday November 30, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 1, 2017 at 9:30 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River, NJ. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans at www.DAV.org.
