Thomas J. Tommy Burdette, 61, of Charleston, passed away on July 27, 2010.

Tommy was known by his family as Sunshine, a nick-name given to him by his mother.

He was born to the late Thomas and Mary Frances Burdette on December 2, 1948 in Oak Hill, WV. His father, Lt. Jim Burdette was in the military. Tommys family lived in Germany and Japan where he attended pre-school as a child.

He attended Greenbrier Military School and a 1972 Graduate of Morris Harvey University. He was an oil and gas well reporter for I.H.S as well as a sales rep for United Structural Systems. He was a member of Home Builders Association.

He enjoyed golfing and fishing and was a great story teller. Tommy had a humble but funny personality and was loved by everyone who met him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Priscilla Nicole Burdette; four step children, Monica, Mitzi, Michael and Mark of Lexington, KY; eleven step grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Dave) Gillispie, Susie Aston, Marianne Dunlap (Vic) Harold all of Charleston; mother and father-in-law, Marie and Everett Kidd; sister-in-laws, Sandy King, Barbara Lockhart, Pat Lockhart; brother-in-law, John Lockhart all of Lexington, KY as well as a host of family and friends.

A Service to Honor the Life of Thomas J. Tommy Burdette will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, July 30, 2010, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston . Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston

Family and friends may visit from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Funeral Home.
