Thomas "Red" Marshall Adams, Jr. 89 of Bloomington died Saturday, June 25, 2016 in Hearthstone Health Campus. He was born August 19, 1926 in Ravena, Kentucky to Thomas Marshall Adams, Sr. and Marcie J. Smith Adams. He was retired from General Motors Powertrain, Bedford.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky Adams and his wife Gale of Spencer and Timothy Adams of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Aaron K. Adams and wife Tracy, Tommy Roberts, Tony Roberts and wife Meshelle and Tracie Ann Mathews and husband Eddie; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Roberts, Justin Mathews, Leroy Roberts, Zeke Adams, Adrian Adams and Myra Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Ruby E. Staley Adams; a brother, Ray Adams; two sisters, Doris McCullough and Helen Milligan; and a great grandson, Chris Buchanan.
Memberships include the Ellettsville First Assembly of God and the American Legion, Burton Woolery Post # 18. Tom was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy having enlisted at the age of 17 and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. In addition to retiring from GM Powertrain, Thomas had also worked for B.G. Hoadley Stone Company in Bloomington for 19 years.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St., with Pastor Ronnie Hinson officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens with Military Honors given by the Monroe County Honor Guard. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 29th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
