THOMAS MADISON "TOM" SHARPLIN, 82 OAK GROVE, LOUISIANA Cox Funeral Home Oak Grove, Louisiana OAK GROVE, LA - Funeral services for Thomas Madison "Tom" Sharplin, age 82 of Oak Grove, Louisiana, will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Forest Baptist Church in Forest, Louisiana. Reverends Colin Trisler, Jay Morgan and Tim Sharplin will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Forest Cemetery in Forest, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove. Mr. Sharplin passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Tommy was a lifelong resident of West Carroll Parish where he was a member of Forest Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He owned and operated Forest Gin Company of 32 years. He was a farmer and operated other various local businesses. He was affiliated with the local Baptist Brotherhood and Spanish Mission. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Franklin Sharplin and Rhoda Lee Thompson Sharplin; and two brothers, Leon Sharplin and Larry Sharplin. He is survived by his wife, Rebe Arlene Fairchild Sharplin; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sharron Sharplin of West Monroe, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Cindy Sharplin of Forest, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; god child, Jay Sharplin of Natchitoches, Louisiana; brother and sister-in-law, Aurthur and Kathy Sharplin of Austin, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sandra Sharplin of Natchitoches, Louisiana; brother and sister-in-law, James and Wanda Sharplin of Monroe, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sharplin of Holly Ridge, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Betty Joiner of Dallas, Texas; lifelong friends, Sheldon and Ellen Lewis of Monroe, Louisiana. Pallbearers are Ben Sharplin, Nathan Sharplin, Terrell Sharplin, Seth Sharplin, Jay Sharplin and Chris Sharplin. Honorary Pallbearers are: Michael Sharplin, Noah Sharplin and Isaiah Sharplin. Family will receive friends between the hours of 5 to 8 PM on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.
