Thomas Michael Keever went to be with his heavenly father after a long battle with chronic illness. He was the son of the late Thomas W. "Bud" and Navada W. Keever of Hickory, North Carolina. Mike received his Bachelor of Science from Mars Hill College and his Master's Degree from Virginia Tech. He served with distinction in the U.S. Navy, first as an enlisted seaman and later as an officer. Mike was an Electronics Technician N (Communications). He completed a tour of duty during the Vietnam War serving on Naval submarines. After a medical discharge from the Navy, Mike had an 18 year career with Nortel. He lived in Dallas, Texas and several European countries.

Mike brought joy and laughter to all that knew him. He never met a stranger and was generous to those in need, even if it was his last dime. During his work with Nortel, Mike routinely volunteered at a skilled nursing facility in Mesquite, Texas. While in Texas he also taught at a junior college. After moving to Raleigh he volunteered at the VA Hospital in Durham, which became one of his greatest joys in life. He always put a smile on the faces of everyone he came in contact with.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Deborah Grainger Keever and three sons, Ralph (Shay) Trango, John (Annette) Trango, Paul (Amanda) Trango. Also the delights of his life were his grandchildren, Mack, Andy, Emma, Damien, Paul Jr., and Mariah Trango. His sister Judi Grainger and brothers-in-law Frank Grainger and John Grainger. Also a niece Michelle Grainger (Zalon Thurman) and a nephew Frank Grainger, Jr. (Kristin), nieces Dawn Synder (Richard), Amanda Grainger and Deanne Grainger, great-nephews, Hiram and Roland Grainger. Also surviving Mike is his beloved Aunt Mozelle Keever of Hickory, NC cousins and many friends.
