East Lyme- Thomas P. Banks, Sr., husband of Arlene Banks passed away on Saturday March 11, 2017 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Mystic on April 12, 1936 the son of the late Amos L. Banks, Sr. and Ethel Ferguson Banks. Tom attended Stonington High School and lived in East Lyme since 1962. He married Arlene and they began their life together for the next 60 years. Tom was a carpenter with the Carpenters local 24 until his retirement in 1998. Tom bowled for Flanders Bowling League for many years, and was a passionate gardener. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams included the New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox. Besides his wife Arlene he is survived by his children Thomas P. Banks, Jr and his wife Valerie of Oakdale, Debra O'Donnell, Linda Rando and Holly Dull and her husband Miles all of Groton, Randy Banks and his wife Elissa of Guilford. 11 Grandchildren. 1 sister Rita Adams of Albany, Oregon five brothers William Banks of Westerly, RI, Daniel Banks of Monore, Kenneth Banks of No. Stonington, Alfred Banks of Dulles, GA and Kevin Banks of Pawcatuck. He was predeceased by a sister Sara Corazzelli and 3 brothers Amos, Thurman and Donald Banks. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Dinesh Kapur and his staff for the wonderful care given to Tom. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday March 17 at 11 O'clock at St. Matthias Church, 317 Chesterfield Road East Lyme. Interment will follow in East Lyme Cemetery, East Lyme. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:45 at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's memory can be made to Eastern CT Hematology and Oncology 326 Washington St. Norwich, CT 06360. Thomas L.
