Thomas W. Swindler, 89, peacefully passed into eternity on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in North Charleston, SC. He was born on October 19, 1928 in Newberry, SC to the Late Oscar H. and Velma S. Swindler. He married Lois Roberts Swindler in 1949 in San Diego, CA. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1999.

He served in and retired from the U.S. Navy, Chief Boatswain's Mate (BMC), as a deep sea diver. He then served in and retired from the Civil Service in the U.S. Post Office as a Letter Carrier.

Tom was active in Masonic fraternities, spending many happy years with the Order of the Eastern Star, rising to the position of Worthy Grand Patron of SC in 1992. He was a long time member of Dorchester-Waylyn (Doorway) Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon and other various positions.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard, Merle, and James Swindler, and his wife, Lois.

Tom is survived by his sister, Connie S. Pridmore of Greenwood, SC, sons Tommy W. Swindler, Richard E. Swindler, Gary A. Swindler, and David P. (Belinda) Swindler, all of North Charleston, SC, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home and Carolina Memorial Gardens,7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406,(843) 797-2222. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park.
