Mr. Troy Hight, age 85 of Cartersville, GA passed away on Friday afternoon, March 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Hight was born in Bartow County on November 12, 1931, son of the late John and Rossie Cochran Hight.
Troy worked for many years in the carpet industry and following retirement, he worked at Thompson Honda. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hight was an active member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he attended the Men’s Sunday School class and was an enthusiastic participant in the Pine Grove Pioneers. He was also an active member of the Retired Men’s Group and Bartow Seniors.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Mildred (R.V) Hufstetler; brothers, James and Lelton Hight;
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-one years, Shirley Dabbs Hight and were married on April 13, 1996. They were nearly inseparable during those wonderful years they shared together. He is also survived by his children, Danny Hight and Milton (Pete) Hight; step-daughters, Joanne Crane and Donna Posey; grandchildren, Amanda Herbert, April Abernathy, Andrew Hight, Alex Hight, Adam Hight, Aaron Hight, Chuck Maulden, Ethan Posey and Deanna Posey; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold and Clinton Hight; sisters, Nettie Mae Pritchett and Betty Jean Evans; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Harley Hardin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 28th of March, 2017 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Clinton Green officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Mr. Hight’s nephews, Clint Hight, Johnny Hight, Steve Souther, Timothy Evans, Randy Evans and Harry Evans.
Honorary pallbearers are Theophilus (TC) Christian, Glenn Worley, Jack Galloway, Gene Brown, Jake Cochran, Jerry Hill and Wilburn Epps.
Friends are cordially invited to a Gathering with the family from five o’clock in the evening until nine on Monday, the 27th of March, 2017 at Owen Funeral Home.
