Truman S Stephens, 83 yrs. old, formally of Canisteo, NY, resident of Central Florida for over 56 years, passed away, Tuesday, October 20, 2016 at his home, doing what he loved to do the most, working outside in his yard in Apopka. He was born in North Hornell, NY, on January 7, 1933, the son of Otto and Beatrice Stephens. Truman was a resident of Canisteo, NY for all of his childhood and graduated at Canisteo High School. Upon Graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He married his long time sweetheart Mae Lorraine Hackett on March 6, 1954. Truman and Mae moved to Orlando, FL in 1959 with their 2 children, David and Charlene where Truman was employed as a CPA with Heinzelman Ford Company. His desires in life was to support his family and beyond. He became an entrepreneur. He owned his own Semi and became a truck broker. He later opened his own family business American Sir Janitor Supply Store. He also was an investor in stocks. He enjoyed old cars, gardening and RV traveling. He loved all of his life helping other people. Family was important to him. We have seen him supply Christmas's to many family members when they would have had no Christmas at all and supply many needed items for family and friends. His heart was always over joyed. He did believe in discipline and honesty and on a man's word! He wanted to help teach you to fish so you could eat for a life time instead of always looking for another handout. Truman and Mae layed their son David, to rest on February 20, 2002 after his short battle with cancer. Together they endured and pressed on. Their Daughter Charlene was the only child now and together with their 9 grandchildren, David (Lauren)Johnson, Sean Stephens, Brian Johnson, Hillary Stephens, Rebecca (Mark) Saville, Tyler Stephens (which they raised after their sons death, along with their Step grandchildren, Erica Anderson, Jennifer Diehl and Kimberly Baxter, and they longed to be with them. Truman and Mae have 9 great grandchildren, Stephen 15, Caleb 14, Andrew 13, Jonah 12, Mark III Tripp 5, Selah 1 and 3 step great grandchildren Kayleigh 14, Jordyn 11 and Mason 1. The funeral will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home of Apopka, 601 North Park Ave., Apopka, FL. The viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 25, from 5 to 8 pm. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 2:30pm. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in the Garden of Resurrection, 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park, FL. Officiating the service with be Rev. Bob Chambers, a long time pastor of the grandchildren. Flowers may be sent to Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home Apopka.
