Twila Denise (Hagerman) Roberts, age 62, of Grandview, MO went home to her Lord and Savior on Aug. 28, 2014. Twila was born in 1952, to William and Pauline Hagerman Jr. in KC MO. She graduated from Ruskin High School, but not before meeting the love of her life, Michael. They were married at Peace Lutheran Church in 1974 and were blessed four years later with one daughter, Paula Jean. Twila started her work career as a model for O’Malley’s clothing store in KC and later as a clerk and manager for the Internal Revenue Service where she served 20+ years before retiring.

Aunt Ti-Ti (as she was known to her numerous nephews and nieces) never forgot their special days, celebrated their victories, took care of them when needed, dispensed advise when they were in trouble, taught them crafts, regularly bought them items she thought they would enjoy, put a little extra cash in their pockets, but most of all loved them each dearly.

Twila spent her summers as a child at her family farm and the love for animals never left her. Even though she was in the city, she was always a farm girl at heart or as she liked to say, “Just a good ol’ Country Bumpkin”. She wanted to raise chickens and fainting goats, but when that wasn’t possible she settled for the next best things, dogs and parrots. She loved her two dogs, Kaycee and Lizzy, and her birds Oscar and Sierra, along with other cherished pets that have passed that she is now being able to see again. She and Michael served as foster parents for numerous rescue dogs for several years, even taken in and bottle feeding a week old puppy that had been abandoned in a box. Twila enjoyed collecting marbles, fossils, rocks, silly knick-knacks, and watching any tv show that included animals, hunting for treasures, and she often watched shows about Big Foot with her nurses in the hospital…making sure to tell them anything they had missed when they had to leave to make their rounds.

Twila was a four time cancer survivor. She relied on her faith in the Lord to get her through some of the roughest times in her life. She survived thyroid, breast, lymph node, and bone marrow cancer. At the time of her passing, she had successfully “kicked cancer’s butt” and was in remission and cancer free after a bone marrow transplant.

Twila will be remembered for her complete devotion to her beloved husband and daughter, her unconditional love for all of her family including her cherished brother “Bubby”, her generosity to her friends…most who were more like family, her ornery personality, and wacky sense of humor.

Twila was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pauline Hagerman Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Michael; daughter Paula Pritchett and husband David; brother Paul Hagerman and wife Shelia; numerous nephews and nieces; extended family, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 2nd, at Peace Lutheran Church, 8240 Blue Ridge Blvd., KCMO. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3rd, at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care (12000 Wornall Road, KC, MO) or The Animal Rescue Alliance (T.A.R.A.), P.O. Box 520798, Independence, MO 64052.
