Velma Lee Fleming, 96, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

Velma was born on November 23, 1919 to Cecil and Iva (Stewart) Brown at home in Davis County, Missouri. She married the love of her life Lloyd Fleming on November 19, 1936 and they were blessed with four children. As a young wife and mother Velma worked as a homemaker, raising her children, and taking care of the family. Velma was the backbone of Lloyd's garage in Alleman, assisting her husband Lloyd with bookkeeping, parts running, and anything that was needed. She worked for several years in the office of the Alleman Co-op.

Velma enjoyed cooking, and working on puzzles. She loved to quilt, and was a member of the quilting group at the Salem United Church of Christ. Velma was dedicated to her faith and was involved with the Salem United Church of Christ for numerous years.

Her life was dedicated to caring for her family. Her greatest joy was the time she shared with family and friends and the memories she created. In later years she would spend many hours going through old picture memories and reliving special events.

Velma is survived by her daughter; Janice Fleming, of Pine City, MN, son; Stuart (Betty) Fleming, of Ankeny, IA, daughter-in-law; Kim Fleming, grandchildren: Danny Fleming, Ivin Fleming, Tami Fleming, Katie Smith, Chris Clark, Jodi (James) Welch, Jenna (Daniel) Poyzer, great-grandchildren; Cody, Jaden, Dawson, Briella, Morgan, Haylie, and Damion, brother; Kenneth Brown of Red Oak, IA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Velma is preceded by her husband; Lloyd Fleming, sons; Dennis and Ron Fleming, sisters; Betty Kent, June Morris, and Leona Davis, Brothers; Bill Brown, and Junior.
