Velma Ruth Bono passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017. She was born on August 31, 1933 in Lexington, Illinois to her parents Alvah and Nellie Stivers. She grew up in her family home in Joliet, Illinois and spent her retirement in Mesa, Arizona.

She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed many hobbies such as bowling, ceramics, and card games. She also was an accomplished seamstress, manager of a jewelry store, and even a campaign worker for President John F. Kennedy.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, all 8 of her siblings, and her two sons Michael Roy Malcom and Steven Bono.

She is survived by her husband Marvin Bono. Her 3 children and their spouses; Ann and Gary Lambert, Eddie and Pat Malcom, Curt and Marla Malcom. Her 6 grandchildren and their spouses; Craig Lambert, Eric and Lorrie Lambert, Kevin and Vanessa Lambert, Michael and Jaymie Malcom, Matthew Malcom, and Marc Malcom. Her 4 great grandchildren; Kyle Lambert, James Lambert, Haley Malcom, and Michael Malcom. As well as her special niece Linda.

Visitation Saturday April 22, 2017, 3 - 4 PM, at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care located at 6747 E. Broadway Rd, Mesa, AZ 85206, where services will be held at 4:00 PM.
