Verlyn E. McGraw passed away on July 2, 2017. He was born in the rural Milo, Iowa area July 25, 1921. He was preceded in death by his wife Bette of 56 years; also his parents, Chester and Edna McGraw; and a brothers, Dale McGraw and Leland McGraw.

At the age of 21, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp, spending 3 and a half years in the Military Service. After World War II, he returned to his home near Milo, Iowa and attended Simpson College at Indianola, Iowa for 2 years.

On April 21, 1946 he married Bette Young of Milo, Iowa. He managed the Warren County Oil Co. in Indianola, Iowa for 30 years.

Survivors include a son, Steve (Jan) McGraw of Waterloo, Iowa; a daughter, Marcia (Dave) Herr of Gilbert, Arizona; 7 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

He belonged to the Masonic Lodge; Eastern Star; American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Ex-Prisoners of War; and the First United Methodist Church of Indianola, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday July 22, 2017 3PM at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel 6747 East Broadway Road, Mesa, Arizona 85206. Graveside to follow.
