Verna L. Rowley, age 92, of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away on April 9, 2017. She was born on November 9, 1924, in Wilton, North Dakota to Anna (Hultqvist) and Albin E. Anstrom. She graduated from Garrison High School and then attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

After moving to Portland for a job with Employers Mutual, she met her future husband, Raymond G. Rowley, who was serving in the Navy. They met in 1947, married in 1948 and had three children. They lived in Spokane for a few years and then settled in the Portland area.

Verna’s special devotion was to her family and friends, but she also managed to build a career and retire from an office management position with Washington County. She loved activities with her family and friends, enjoyed many vacation trips over the years, shared her love of sports and had a special sense of humor that will be missed.

In recent years she was blessed to live in a wonderful and caring retirement facility and we are grateful to all her friends/staff at Creekside Retirement Community. Until her passing at 92, she was healthy, young at heart, active, and had many friends. She was also a long time member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband Raymond and is survived by her three children, Robert (Judy), Garry (Donna) and Karen Budge (Kevin), 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and one on the way.
