Verna Marie Sanders was born on June 30, 1938 in Redland, Texas. She was the fourth child of seven children born to Andy Davis and Viola Jackson Davis who preceded her in death.

Verna attended E.J. Campbell High School, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Following high school she continued her education at the Phoenix Business College. It was here that she received a Certificate in Bookkeeping which led to her 30 year career working as a Senior Bookkeeper for Cudahy/Bar-S Foods

Verna married the love of her life, Hadie Sanders, on September 28, 1954, and their inseparable journey of life began. Two sons were born to them, Larry Darnell (preceded her in death) and Chet Allyn. Hadie and Verna had lots of laughter and raucous fun together, whether it was traveling to Hawaii, a cruise to the Bahamas or Mexico, a day trip to Bullhead City or just going for a night of bingo at the Wildhorse Pass Casino. They were by each other's side until Hadie's death separated them on May 7, 2013.

Verna had a love for cooking and spending time with family. She was happiest when she could bring these two loves together; preparing a large meal for her family and everyone coming together to enjoy the food, laughter and the many shared stories

Verna is preceded in death by her one brother and three sisters.

Verna leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Chet Allyn Sanders; sisters, Jennie Wafer of Glendora, CA and Margie Norris (Willie) of Dallas, TX; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
