VICTOR PAT CHANCE, 81, died May 26, 2017, with his family and loved ones by his side.
Victor was born September 9, 1935, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to George and Mildred "Mim" Chance. He graduated from Bauxite High School in Arkansas. Shortly thereafter he joined the U.S. Air Force where he became a fighter pilot, flying the Phantom F4C fighter jet through two tours in Viet Nam. He retired from the Air Force in 1978, at the rank of Major.
In 1958, he married the love of his life, Betty Sue Winkler, and became an instant step-father to her two children, Jerry A. Foster and Teddy E. Brandon.
He is survived by his two step-children, Jerry A. Foster (Jackie) and Teddy E. Brandon (Dori), two grandchildren, Brian K. Brandon (Andrea) and Ryan S. Brandon (Amber), three great-granddaughters, Taylor A. Brandon, Bailey R. Brandon and Mollie Mae B. Brandon, his sister Mary K. Keith, and brother David R. Chance. He is also survived by his much-loved companion, Joanne Smith, who has been a part of his life for the past 15 years as his significant other and care-giver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Chance, his father and mother, and his older brother George Jr. Chance.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the Humane Society or other animal care shelter of your choice.
Services will be held Friday, June 2, 2017, at 1:00 P.M. at Mariposa Gardens located at 400 S. Power Road, Mesa, AZ. Victor's ashes and those of his beloved wife will be laid to final rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
