Viola M. Mehling, 92, of Fremont, went to be with her Lord and Savior and husband Gene on December 15, 2016. She was born January 23, 1924 in Fremont, the daughter of Albert and Frances (Darr) Fisher. On October 11, 1947 she married Eugene Mehling at St. Joseph's Church and they had 58 years together. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2005. She was a graduate from St. Joseph School and Mercy College of Nursing in 1945. Upon graduation she was awarded the highest honor at graduation the Dr. Larkin Medal, an award for excellence and efficiency in nursing. Viola worked as a Registered Nurse for Memorial Hospital, Home Health and St. Bernardines. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and Mercy Alumni and she assisted with mobile meals. She enjoyed playing cards, walking and visiting the sick.

Viola was a devoted and loving mother of 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Surviving her are children Patricia (Gil) Miller of Toledo, OH, Fred (Nancy) Mehling of Toronto, OH, Joseph (Kelly) Mehling of Worthington, OH; 6 grandchildren, 5 great- grandsons one great-granddaughter and sister Helen Arnold of Fremont, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, siblings Leo Fisher; Sister Luella Marie Fisher, S.N.D, Bernice Haubert, Irene Ott, Clayton Fisher and sister Marian Dumminger.

Viola wanted all her family and friends to remember the joyus and happy times with her and to leave behind the sadness. These loving memories should be shared by family and friends to comfort each other. Loving memories last forever.

A Mass of Memorial will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family will receive guests beginning at 10:00A.M. at the Church. Rev. Nathan Bockrath will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or Sisters of Notre Dame.
